How Clinic/Hospital Availability & Operations Work

DialDoctor Knowledge Base
DialDoctor uses a centralized availability engine. When you add a doctor to your clinic or hospital, their weekly shifts and working hours directly determine which appointment slots are bookable.
How Slots Are Generated
Appointment slots are calculated dynamically by checking three criteria:
- 1Doctor Working Shifts: The active working hours configured for that day (e.g., 10:00 AM – 02:00 PM).
- 2Doctor Booking Toggle: The practitioner must have booking enabled for your facility in the Doctors directory.
- 3Collision Detection: Any time slot that has already been booked (and not cancelled) is automatically removed to prevent double-booking.
Doctor Off Days & Closed Dates
When a doctor marks a date as an off-day in their availability calendar, the clinic booking modal automatically grays out that date, preventing receptionists and online patients from booking when the practitioner is away.
Zero Duplication: The Clinic/Hospital Workspace reuses the existing doctor availability engine. Reception teams never need to re-enter shifts manually.
